The Fire Goat afflictions — and their cures
In a Ding Wei (丁未) year the Fire sits over the Goat's Earth, so the Earth afflictions bite harder than usual — drain them with metal and leave them alone.
- 5 Yellow (五黃) — North. The year's most dangerous star, ruling accidents and sudden loss. Cure: metal — a six-rod metal wind chime or a metal wu lou; keep the North still, with no renovation or digging, and never add red or earth/ceramic décor there.
- 2 Black (二黑) — West. The illness star. Cure: metal — a metal wu lou or a six-coin string. Keep the West quiet; don't use it as a sickbed or main bedroom this year. The West doubles as the Three Killings seat, so it is the year's single most burdened sector.

- Sui Po (歲破) — Northeast. The Grand Duke's clash, opposite Tai Sui, sharpened here by the 3 Three Jade (三碧) star — avoid groundbreaking, and don't face the Northeast for important seated work.
- Three Killings (三煞) — West. The Goat belongs to the Pig–Rabbit–Goat (亥卯未) Wood trine, so the Sam Saat falls in the West. Keep it undisturbed and don't sit with your back to it.
Both the 5 Yellow and the 2 Black are Earth stars, and metal drains Earth. Earth or Fire enhancements — ceramics, crystals, red, candles — feed them instead, so keep those out of the North and West all year.

Reading your own home for 2027
To put this chart to work, stand at the centre of your floor plan with a compass and divide the space into eight 45° sectors. Match each to a palace above: the room that falls in the North takes the metal 5 Yellow cure, the Southeast room is where you concentrate light, movement and activity, and any room sitting on the Tai Sui line in the Southwest is left undisturbed all year.
Apartments and single rooms use the same method at a smaller scale — sub-divide the one space rather than the whole building. Always read from the true centre of the property, not the front door, and take the reading once: the Ding Wei sectors hold from Li Chun until the next boundary, so there is no need to re-measure month to month.
Why last year's cures no longer apply
The annual chart is not decoration — it is arithmetic. Each feng shui year the ruling star in the centre descends by one and every star flies one palace further along the fixed Lo Shu path. The 2026 chart was governed by the 1 One White; in 2027 that seat passes to the 9 Nine Purple, and all nine stars move with it.
So the sector you activated for wealth last year is almost certainly not this year's wealth sector, and a corner that was safe in 2026 may now hold the 5 Yellow. This year the wealth star rests in the Southeast and the disaster star in the North — take down last year's placements at Li Chun and reset every cure to the chart above. Nothing here is fixed by compass forever; it is fixed by the year.
Timing through the Fire Goat year

From Li Chun — February 4, 2027. The Fire Goat chart takes force. Hang metal in the North (5 Yellow) and West (2 Black) before anything else, then activate the Southeast wealth sector. Cures set in the first fortnight carry the whole year.
