Tai Sui 2027 Which Signs Offend the Year God
In 2027 four signs offend Tai Sui — and contrary to many guides, the Dragon is not one of them.
What Tai Sui actually is
Tai Sui (太歲) — the "Grand Duke of Jupiter" — is, in classical Chinese metaphysics, the governing authority of the year: the enforcer of order and correct timing. A new Tai Sui presides over each of the 60 years in the Jia Zi cycle.
A common error in annual guides is to treat Tai Sui as a punitive deity who hands out guaranteed bad luck. It isn't. Offending Tai Sui marks friction that arises when your actions or environment move against the year's order — not arbitrary misfortune. So an affected year calls for caution, patience and consolidation, not fear.
The Four Signs That Offend Tai Sui in 2027
Each affects a different relationship to the Goat branch (Wei 未). Not sure of your exact sign? Calculate it with the Li Chun boundary — January and early-February births can differ.
| Sign | Relationship | Birth years | 2027 guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goat 羊 | Own year · Ben Ming Nian (本命年) | 1943, '55, '67, '79, '91, 2003, 2015 | A transformative but volatile year — shed old patterns, lay new foundations. Pay respects early, wear red, avoid impulsive major moves. |
| Ox 牛 | Direct clash · Chong (丑未冲) | 1937, '49, '61, '73, '85, '97, 2009, 2021 | The year's most forceful conflict — guard against sudden setbacks, disputes and travel mishaps. Patience over confrontation; mind health and contracts. |
| Dog 狗 | Punishment · Xing (丑戌未) | 1934, '46, '58, '70, '82, '94, 2006, 2018 | Friction shows up in work and legal matters. Scrutinize contracts and agreements, avoid impulsive commitments, handle conflict with diplomacy. |
| Rat 鼠 | Cross-harm · Hai (子未) | 1936, '48, '60, '72, '84, '96, 2008, 2020 | A subtler, insidious friction — disappointment from trusted people, quiet financial leaks, misunderstandings. Budget tightly and vet new partnerships. |
Note: some guides wrongly list the Dragon for 2027. The Dragon (Chen 辰) has no clash, harm, punishment or break with the Goat year and is not affected. The Dog also carries a secondary "break" (破, 戌未相破) relationship.
The types of "offending Tai Sui"
- Ben Ming Nian (本命年 / 值太歲) — your own zodiac year; heightened exposure and change (Goat in 2027).
- Chong (冲) — clash — direct opposition; the strongest friction (Ox).
- Xing (刑) — punishment — legal/institutional and workplace friction (Dog).
- Hai (害) — harm — hidden, relational friction and quiet losses (Rat).
- Po (破) — break — disruption to plans and cooperation (a secondary tie for the Dog in 2027).
Direction: the Southwest
In 2027 Tai Sui sits in the Southwest (the Goat 未 mountain, 202.5°–217.5°). Keep it calm: avoid renovation, drilling, digging or heavy disturbance there, and avoid sitting or sleeping with your back to the Southwest. The opposite sector — the Northeast — is the Sui Po (Year Breaker) and is likewise best left undisturbed.
Remedies — and what's just upsell
Genuine practice is simple: pay respects (An / Bai Tai Sui) at a Taoist temple within the first 15 days of the Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year is February 6, 2027; the 8th day of the first lunar month is especially auspicious), wear red close to the skin, keep the Southwest undisturbed, and exercise caution with major decisions.
Be wary of commercial upsell: stacks of expensive amulets, "double protection" bundles, or elaborate cures promising guaranteed results. Traditionally the protection comes from respect and intention, not the price of the object. A simple Pixiu (貔貅) charm or a temple talisman is plenty.
Are you actually affected in 2027?
Your zodiac year turns at Li Chun (~Feb 4), not New Year's Day — so a January or early-February birth can change your sign. Check your exact animal and Four Pillars first.
